Reasons why you need a Personal Trainer

Do you need a Personal Trainer? Why do you need a Personal Trainer?

These are some common issues:
1. Many people are unsure of their form or technique when performing a certain exercise. Perhaps your knee aches when you do squats. Proper technique prevents injury & increases effectiveness of the exercise.
2. You want to train for a specific event. Example like Viper Challenge, Marathons, competitions, etc
3. You are not seeing results. Reaches a plateau stage
4. The whole fitness thing just overwhelms you. Unsure of what to do
5. Lack of motivation

By having a Personal Trainer, the trainer would be able to guide you step by step to your goals.

As a Personal Trainer, we can help you find a variation to help you an exercise that is best for you to keep you safe and injury free.
Working out with a trainer, the trainer can help you establish realistic goals and plans for you to achieve them. The trainer can create a personalized and progressive workout based on your goals.

A Personal Trainer can help you achieve your fitness goals in a safe and healthy environment. By investing your health with a Personal Trainer may be one of the most rewarding decisions that you do.

Paintball in Me =)

I started playing paintball about 5 years ago, mainly just for leisure.

Each of us started playing paintball from different aspects, some played in sub-urban scenarios, woodsball and rec-ball type of scenarios, in friendly skirmishes. As we grew into liking game, we somehow met up and played several woodsball & speedball game together.

Two of us joined the speedball game with another team, for experience sake to know more what is speedball. We both found out more about the game and gotten the interest into challenging self to accomplish the drills and more.

We started of by asking friends that are interested in the game and would love to grow and excel in the team together. Some were suggesting that we should wait a while before forming the team. One of us, suddenly just said "Let's make this team happen! , Lets do it!"
This team was founded & formed in December 2010. We called ourselves Team B.I.N.G.O.

What B.I.N.G.O  is also known as Being Insane Never Goes Offz. This also means that all our team mates are somewhat kooky, random, unpredictable and always wanting to have fun.
We participated in our very first tournament in January 2011 in Division 4. Knowing that our team was formed about a month before the first tournament, we had about five (5) training sessions in a total of about 20 hours of training. The training consists of slide, dive, snap-shooting and basics knowledge of bunker names.

From our first tournament, we the experiences we made together as a team, we had created a friendship-family bond with each other. We trained and played together, however, every team has its up and downs; we still keep it strong.

Team Bingo had retired. As most of us has already went separate ways; into a different teams, because of work & life. Some of us has retired from paintball, but the bond of friendship throughout this journey had maintained strong. We constantly have outings, gathering and such.

That's a little history of what happened to the team. Right now there are a few of them whom are still actively playing paintball in tournaments, in several different divisions and we all support them through.

I have kinda stopped playing paintball on a regular basis, partially because of no team to train with and also the time constraints due to my work. Every now and then I/we will pop by to the field to let our trigger happy fingers loose.

Selfie before the game
Wonders how the paintball field looks like?  Take a look at the photo below.

Field

Happy run
Look at how happy he is while doing warm ups. We all enjoy being out in the sun, and getting ready to shoot some balls. Before playing any sport, it's always good to warm up first before playing. By warming up, you would be able to avoid unnecessary injury, muscle pulls and etc.

As usual, there will be more guys playing this sport...however there are girls that plays this sport too. Like me!! xD

Before gearing up, looking clean & fresh
Yea ya... the photo seems somewhat not in action. Here's some in action & candid shot.

Girls in action!
Guys in action!

Paintball is a fantastic sport to play with friends & colleagues. It's a great way for team building, bonding and lots of fun. From all of the fun, it's a workout too. Make sure to hydrate yourself while playing paintball and after the games.

There's an international tournament "Paintball World Cup" coming up soon in the next few months.
It's on 29th October to 1st November 2015 that will be held in Langkawi. There will be teams from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Germany, France, UAE, UK, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Iran and many more.

Plan your trip to visit Langkawi. Witness the awesome event & meet new people from all over the world.

I'm planning a trip there myself to support the teams and to meet up friends from all over the globe; also to meet new players. I'm all psyched up!!

My Activities~

It's been quite a while since I last posted anything on the blog. My apologies for that. For a frequent update of things, kindly follow me on:

Well, this is a part of what I've been doing this month. These stunts may look simple enough for anyone to do (perhaps it is...especially for guys).

Always REMEMBER, Safety First.

This first video is a compilation of all the front flips I did within two different days back to back. The first location would be a Jumpstreet, PJ and the other one in EnerZ, USJ.

Here's my experience when attempting and doing the front flip. Honestly, I fell flat on my face dozen of times before I even managed to get the rotation. The amount of hesitation for me to even merely roll or jump into the foam pit is like "aaarrggh~" Lol. After getting the hang out jumping off the trampoline into the foam pit, it's in a way not that difficult. Phew~

So when I start to think that it could be easy, there are still a lot to learn and adjust before I can land for my front flip. Technically, I can't land on my feet yet. Still in the process trying to figure out the exact rotation. Current progress; can flip into the foam pit, occasionally over-rotate or under-rotate. Next is, I need to obtain more height for more air time ;)

This video is mainly on back flips. I had never tried jumping backwards into anything before. Perhaps trip and fall... but this is so totally different. hahahaha.

The first few times, I tried with a Jump Referee as a spotter just in-case I didn't jump over completely. After a few tries, I think it shouldn't be that hard and just do it.
In the first two jumps, it was merely to test if I would be able to land on my feet. Well I did it!!

After being able to sort of land on my feet, here comes the black mat on top of the foam pit. Now I have to land on my feet and stand up after the flip.
First clip, oh yea!...I landed on the mat with an awful balance.
Second clip, I landed and after I actually look like I'm surfing in the sea. Imagine the black mat as my surf board....hahaha...I look so cool xD
Third clip, Yay!! I landed and I stood up, can pose a bit (like a second) before falling backwards into the foam pit =D

Xryss Fitness's note:
As a Personal Trainer myself, these are the things that I'm learning and will accomplish it.
We, trainers have our own specialities when training people. And it's our passion to assist people to achieve their fitness goals. We ain't "Gods" that know everything. We are always learning, ways to improve ourselves and have the knowledge to assist you.

That's all for now. Stay tuned~

Facts of Lemons

How much water and lemon?

A glass of water approximately about 120ml to 150ml with half a lemon squeezed into the glass. This is best taken 15 minutes to 30 minutes before breakfast.

Benefits:

Gives your immune system a boost

  • Packed with nutrients; Vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, calcium, iron, magnesium & fiber
  • It has excellent source of potassium
  • It contains more potassium than apples or grapes

Aids digestions

  • Lemon acts as a cleansing agent in your body
  • Aids in production of digestive juices

Cleanses your system

  • Helps flush out the toxins
  • May assist in weight loss

Helps to keep you skin blemish free & more

  • Helps decrease blemishes / pimples and wrinkles
  • Can be applied to sun burns to reduce the burning sensations
  • If you have a small cut… to heal it faster; wash your hand with some lemon. Why? This is because lemon has antiseptic and coagulant properties. Does it hurts? Yes.
  • Personal Story: How I happen to know this? I had a cut a few years back, not knowing that I had a small cut. Also I was working behind the bar, so handling of lemons and other fruits are pretty common. While squeezing the lemon, I felt a major sting that I immediately drop the lemon. And does it hurt? Oh ya!! Very! (Tried that, done that & still doing that).
A normal cut will averagely take about a week plus to heal. After this incident, to me, it healed within 3 to 5 days. Amazing!!

Mood Enhancer

  • The lemony scent has a calming effect
  • Helps to reduce anxiety or depression

Helps to cut out caffeine

  • Morning cup coffee is good
  • Having coffee after lunch, may cause you to be unable to sleep well in the night. Lemon water would be a great substitute to perk you up in the afternoon, and not having the problem of sleeping at night.

Helps fight viral infections

  • Warm lemon water is an effective way to diminish viral infections
  • Such as cold, throat infections, fever & etc
Please take note: Do not consume too much lemon. Lemon is very acidic, if you eat lemon; direct contact with the teeth, please drink a lot of water or rinse your mouth thoroughly.

Easier & fun way to consume it: Make it into a lemonade.

Recipe for a simple lemonade (by glass)

Items needed: Lemons, Soda Water & Sprite

Methods:
  1. Squeeze 1 lemon juice into the glass
  2. Add in ice
  3. Fill up the glass with 50:50 soda water and Sprite
  4. Stir the mixture
For garnish: Place a lemon slice on the rim of the glass or into the glass and mint leaf.
And you are ready to enjoy your cup of Lemonade =)

Pineapples!!

Pineapples is known as the "King's crown" due to its shape. Isn't the photo below just cute ;P
Picture not relevant. It's just cute.

Let's now look at the benefits...

Why Eat Pineapples?

  • High in Vitamin C's and antioxidants
  • Low in calories
  • Promotes a healthy digestive system. A great way to natural detox
  • It can help reduce the risk of macular degeneration, a disease that affects people's eye as they age
  • It can help strengthen gums and will help keep your teeth healthy and strong
  • A simple snack

From these few facts about pineapples, start stocking up the fruit and have it as a snack. It would be a healthier snack compared to chips or any other fried tit bits.

Having itchy mouth that just wants to munch on something, change it to fruits or nuts. It's packed with nutrients, vitamins and low in calories...comparing to those other snacks out from the packet, or fried which has lots of calories but low in nutrients.
Make choices of what you eat ..... and be happy & healthy!!

Simple holiday workouts

There are a few exercises that one can do without needing to hit the gym. Just spend about 10 minutes every morning or evening to get these done. It's as easy as 123 =D

The simple exercises and key points

1) Squats (Thighs & Buttocks)

  • Stand with your feet hip-width apart
  • Weight slightly to the back with your chest open
  • Put or stretch your hands forward for balance
  • Do not let your knees pass your toes

2) Push Ups (Chest, Shoulders & Arms)

  • Start from a normal wide-grip push up position, spread your hand wider than your shoulders
  • Use your arms, with engaged core, to bring yourself down
  • As close to the floor but not lying on the floor, and then push yourself back up to the starting position

2a) Modified Push Ups (Chest, Shoulders & Arms)
  • Lie on your stomach with your knees on the floor. Your feet may be either crossed or just place it on the floor. Whichever you feel more comfortable
  • Place your palm on the floor just slightly above your shoulders. Your face look straight to the floor
  • Use your palms to bring yourself up, you will be balanced on your palms and knee. Do not lock your elbows
  • Bend your elbows and lower your entire body all at once, as low as you can, but not lying on the floor, and slowly straighten your elbows back to the balance position

3) Tricep Dips (Triceps)

  • Sit on the edge of the chair with your legs together. (Slightly apart if need to)
  • Place your hands at the edge of the chair or beside your thigh
  • Bend your elbows 90 degrees and lower yourself towards the floor
  • Straighten your hand as your raise your body back to the starting position

4) Plank (Abs, Shoulders, Chest, & Thighs)

  • Lie down on the floor with your elbows bend and on the floor just parallel to your shoulders
  • On your toes and bring your body up with balance. No sagging body or raised buttocks.
  • Focus on keeping your torso/body straight

Looks simple, sound simple & I'm sure you can do it.
Each exercises do about 15 reps each for 2 rounds, and plank for at least 30 seconds.
